Reactive Dogs

For Dogs Who Bark At Other Dogs, People and Things

Reactive behaviour is where a dog struggles to be in the presence of a ‘trigger’ such as another dog, a person or an object like cars or bikes. It can be very embarrassing and distressing as well as potentially dangerous. .

Seperation Anxiety often means that you cannot enjoy going out of the house with your dog. Exercising your dog becomes a nightmare and a chore. You miss out on lovely and popular dog walking routes. You cannot socialise with your dog owning friends and family. You feel anxious and hyperalert when walking your dog and every walk becomes a stressful avoidance mission, or you even have to walk at unsociable times where there will be no dogs.

Reactivity will not get better on its own and it may get worse as time goes on. It is important to get started on reactivity training as soon as possible.

Having a dog who is reacting at other dogs, people and things can be extremely embarrasing, frustrating and even dangerous.

What is Reactive Behaviour?

  • Barking

  • Growling

  • Staring

How Can You Help?

Our Reactive Dog Programme is designed to help your dog by focusing on three main areas.

Using management strategies, we aim to get you able to enjoy dog walks and deal with reactive behaviour in the short term.

This will include temporary strategies to manage reactive outbursts.

Using training we help your dog react less to their trigger long term.

Using desensitisation strategies we reduce your dog’s reactivity

Whatsapp or Email Support and Weekly Check-in’s help you feel supported during your dogs behavioural treatment, reducing the emotional impact of behaviour problem on you.

We have been working with Aimee over the last few weeks, as our dog was very nervous and reactive to other dogs. We have only had four, one to one sessions with Aimee and the difference we have seen in Milo’s behaviour is remarkable. He is much happier out and about and is starting to enjoy meeting other dogs. Aimee’s advice and knowledge has enabled us to understand how to best work with our dog. I would recommend Aimee’s services to anyone who wants to make the most of their pet.
